2019 Fitness trends
Keith McNiven, founder of London based personal training company Right Path Fitness on 2019’s hottest fitness trends.
1) Fitness with a mission. We’ve seen plenty of hybrid fitness classes in the last couple of years, so things like PLIIT blending Pilates with HIIT but I think 2019 will see a greater move towards fitness classes with a real motive. We’re more time poor than ever, and are starting to realise that we can get greater motivation to exercise when we’re really invested in the reason behind it. In 2019, Right Path Fitness will be steaming ahead with our new Date-ercise concept, and I expect to see more classes with an eco-theme like plogging.
2) Adrenaline fuelled fitness. More and more now, we are starting to look for ways to better deal with stress. The realisation has hit that stress management isn’t all cucumbers on the eyes and yoga poses, and that actually maybe we’re missing those high stakes and competitive environments that stress was made for. So, I imagine more adrenaline fuelled fitness that allows a proper outlet for stress in the way that nature intended.
3) Experiential fitness. Experiential has been a ‘thing’ in other sectors for some time now, and it’s all about the overall experience and every element within that. In 2019, I imagine there will be more fitness experiences that incorporate all or most of the 5 senses and offer more than the usual 1 hour training session.
4) Tech based fitness. We’re all on board with how tech can enhance our fitness experience, just look at the wrist of most people you meet to see the evidence of it! In 2019, I envisage that this trend will get bigger with classes and training that has an added tech element, so things like electrical muscle stimulation where your muscles are stimulated as you train.
